Grasses
The Sandhills Prairie is a unique mixed-grass prairie, containing grasses from both the tallgrass and short-grass prairies that are tolerant of the sand, but also many unique grasses that grow only in sandy environments. Sand reedgrass, needle & thread, sand bluestem, and little bluestem are some of the most dominant grasses. Below is a small sampling of the grasses found in the Sandhills.
